Our Beliefs

Statement of Basic Beliefs*

We, the members of Washington Baptist Church, believe in the following:

  • Sovereignty of God, [Deut. 10:17; I Tim 6:15; Rom. 13:1]
  • Lordship of Jesus Christ [Mt. 28:18; I Cor. 8:6; Phil. 2:9-11]
  • Authority of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, which we accept as the sacred and inspired Word of God [I Cor. 14:37; I Thess. 2:13; II Tim. 3:14-17].

As members of this local Congregation of baptized believers, we have chosen to associate by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel under the Lordship of Christ, and to be governed in every way by his teaching and example, living as best we are able as he instructed, as his faithful disciples and followers, to the glory of God the Father. To that end, our faith informs our practice: separately and collectively, we are responsible and accountable to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for the conduct of our personal lives, and the witness, mission, and ministry of Washington Baptist Church.
